Only a quick post for this weeks WOYWW, its been a busy week already and its only Wednesday bring on Thursday, I have booked friday off work and am going for a long weekend to stay with my gran in Devon can't wait.
Now on to the important stuff what's actually on my desk. This week I have been working on a sock dog well trying to at least. So far as you can see it only has 3 legs and no eyes or nose but hopefully you get the idea. I found sewing some of the bits on a little hard and for some reason choose to use a light thread when I think I should have used one that matched the colour of the sock.
I have really enjoyed making the sock dog though and cant wait to get him finished, will be looking to make some more sock animals soon so keep your eyes peeled for a growing sock menagerie!
The other crafting project I am working on this week has yet to actually be started, for Mothers day I bought my mum a 5 day holiday to Nuremberg for us both, we aren't going till September but I am going to give her the tickets this weekend. I plan to make my own mini travel guide with photos and information about what there is to do there but was wondering if any of you had any crafty idea for wrapping up or disguising the tickets as giving over a printed e ticket is perhaps not the most exciting thing ever.
If you have no idea what WOYWW is then you need to visit Julia over at stamping ground, she is the lovely host of this brilliant weekly blog hop in which creative folks share their workspaces and projects. Last week I think I got round about 45 desks am hoping to get nearer a 100 this week :)
Great looking desk with the little sock dog lying there. I think unfinished projects are fun to look at. Sounds like and awesome Mother's Day gift for your Mom! Mother's day isn't until May here in the states and my Mom passed a while ago but we still get together and celebrate the life we enjoyed with her. Hope you have a great weekend. Vickie #4

Hi there; just thought I'd pop my head in to say hi! Glad you are having fun creating. Enjoy your weekend. One idea is to roll up the ticket (or make a voucher) tie a ribbon round and make a paper flower to go on the top and tuck it into a bunch of flowers and see how long it takes for her to see it.

Good luck finishing sock dog, and your Mother's Day gift.
ReplyDeleteI like the contrast thread on the sock hound, makes him look a bit punky and edgy! What a fantastic prezzy for your mum, bet that's an interesting place to visit. Can't help with ticket suggestions, I'm afraid, as I'm a fabric crafter and know nothing about card making/stamping :D

Our mothers day is in May (like the States). Thank goodness it is as I haven't even started thinking of my gifts yet!
ReplyDeleteYour trip book sounds like such a good idea. What a great way to showcase the tickets.

Great work space and nothing like having your unfinished projects just lying around for you to look at and ponder! Thanks so much for letting me have a look around!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet, can't wait to see him completed.
ReplyDeleteHi Becky Great sock dog, well done for giving it a go, sewing is hard!!!! lol Hope you have a lovely weekend with Gran. What a lovely gift for your Mum, I think a homemade voucher holder makes the vouchers/tickets look much nicer. There are lots of voucher wallet templates about on www or on www.craftsuprint.com they do money/voucher wallets all made for you, you just print them & cut them out, I have used craftsuprint a few times its a great site, they have lots of inspiration, a forum, great products that you buy once and get to use over & over again, freebies and lots of tutorials (I don't work for them or anything i have just found it a great site to use) I Will get round to sending a email to you asap. Take Care Lou xxxx
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun project.

I can see it's a dog better from the side photo, but as I was still struck by the fact that you sit on the floor to work, I guess I can't see much past that - you must be so fit!! Wonderful gift for your Mum.
